Proxies
A proxy gives an account a different internet address, so your accounts don't all come from your home connection.
Do I need one?
- One account: no. It can use your own connection (— this machine —).
- Two or more accounts: strongly recommended. LeanBot lets up to five running accounts share one address, your own connection included, and warns you about each one that shares. A sixth on the same address won't start.
Why this matters: accounts seen coming from the same address are easy for the game to link. When one gets banned, the others often go with it. A proxy per account (or per few accounts) keeps them apart.
Add a proxy
You get proxies from a proxy provider. They give you an address (host), a port, and usually a username and password.
- Go to Proxies.
- In Add a proxy (1) fill in:
- Name: anything you'll recognise, like
de-frankfurt-1. - Kind: HTTP (CONNECT) or SOCKS5. Your provider tells you which.
- Host and Port: from your provider.
- User and Password: if your provider gave you some.
- Notes: optional, for yourself.
- Name: anything you'll recognise, like
- Press Check. LeanBot connects through the proxy and shows the address it comes out from.
- Press Save.
- Go to Accounts and choose the proxy in that account's Proxy column.
What LeanBot checks for you
- Every proxy is tested before an account starts, and every five minutes after. A dead or resold proxy is caught.
- The login goes through the proxy too, not only the game. Otherwise darkorbit.com would still see your real address when you sign in.
- Up to five accounts may share one address, the way a household might. This counts your own connection too. LeanBot warns you when they share and refuses a sixth.
- The address is checked before the login, so an account that would break the rules never even signs in.
- No secret fallback. If the check fails, the account doesn't start. If a proxy dies while running, that account stops. It never quietly switches to your own connection.
- Running accounts are re-checked every five minutes. An account that ends up on a full address, or fails the check three times in a row, is disconnected and not restarted by itself.
- A proxy that was deleted but is still chosen on an account stops that account from starting, rather than letting it use your own connection.
Press Check all (3) any time to test every saved proxy at once. Check under This machine at the bottom tests your own connection.
Problems
"An account won't start and blames its proxy." The proxy is dead, or it comes out at the same address as five other running accounts. Press Check on it to see which. Fix or replace the proxy rather than removing it from the account: an account with no proxy uses your own connection, which may already be full.
