Guide/Settings
Which NPCs to kill
The NPC table decides what your ship attacks. Find it in your config under NPC killer.
How the list fills up
You don't type NPC names. Every NPC the ship sees is added by itself, switched off. So a new config has an empty table: start the account, let it fly on the map you want for a minute, then come back here.
Careful
Nothing is attacked until you switch it on. If your ship flies around and ignores everything, this is almost always why. (Galaxy gates are the exception: the gate modules fight every NPC in the gate, whatever Kill says.)
The columns
| Column | What it does |
|---|---|
| Kill (1) | Switch on to attack this NPC. |
| Name | The NPC's name, exactly as the game writes it. |
| Priority (2) | When several are in range, the lowest number goes first. Give the NPC you want most a 1. Negative numbers are allowed. |
| Radius | How far to sit from it while fighting. Bigger is safer from NPCs that hit hard up close. |
| Ammo (3) | Laser ammo to fire at this NPC. Blank uses the module's normal ammo. See Lasers and ammo. |
| Formation | Drone formation to switch to while fighting it. Blank leaves it alone. |
| Extra | Special switches for this NPC, see below. |
Rules it always follows
- An NPC another player is already shooting is left to them, for as long as the module's Leave taken NPCs for says (20 seconds by default). Switch on Ignore attacked (IA) in its row to take it anyway, and Ignore ownership (IO) to keep shooting an NPC that has someone else's white lock. Gate modules ignore this.
- If the game won't let the ship select a target after many tries, that NPC is left alone for 2 minutes.
- Some modules decide for themselves: the galaxy gate modules fight everything in the gate; Cubikon always fights Cubikons and never Protegits; Vortex of Greed fights everything inside; Galaxy Trek and Daily quests pick their own targets. Each module's page says so.
Quick tricks
- Search the table by name, or tick Kill only to see just the ones you attack.
- Tick several rows with the boxes on the left to change them all at once.
- Group similar NPCs (on by default) puts numbered variants on one row: Devolarium 1 and Devolarium 2 become Devolarium *. Switch it off to set them apart.
The Extra switches
Each one is shown by a short code in the Extra column.
| Switch | What it does |
|---|---|
| No circle (NC) | Don't circle the NPC, just stay inside the radius. |
| Ignore ownership (IO) | Keep killing it even if it has a white lock (someone else's). |
| Ignore attacked (IA) | Pick it even if other players are already shooting it. |
| Ignore boxes (IB) | Don't stop for boxes while flying to it. |
| Aggressive follow (AF) | Get closer when it is on low health and running, or sitting in a corner in a gate. Good for NPCs that out-range you once cornered. |
| Passive (P) | Only shoot it if it is shooting you. |
| Attack second (AS) | Only shoot it if others are already attacking. Needs Ignore attacked and Ignore ownership too. |
| Leech only (LO) | Only attack while your energy leech is active. |
| No SAB (NS) | Never fire SAB at it. |
| Use RSB (UR) | Fire RSB at it. |
| PET locator (PL) | Use the PET's locator to find it. |
| Opposite config (OC) | Fight it in your other ship configuration: the one your attack mode does not use. |
| Don't let it reach a corner (NCO) | In a gate: keep it as the target and chase it down once it is nearly dead, so it never gets to a corner. Needs the gate's Keep NPCs out of corners set to Flagged NPCs. |
| Pull to a portal (PP) | Drag the NPC into the nearest portal's demilitarized zone. Once it is shooting you, the ship keeps its usual fighting distance on the portal's side of the NPC, shooting it, so the NPC following it ends up at the portal - the ship itself never goes into the portal. An NPC that comes no nearer for 30 seconds is fought where it is. Never through an area you painted as avoided. |
| Tag A / B / C | Does nothing by itself. A Conditions rule can check it, for example "use better ammo on NPCs with tag A", or leave tagged NPCs alone. |
Tip
Start small. Switch on the easy NPCs of your map first. Add bigger ones once you see the ship handles them without running off to repair every minute.
