Lasers and ammo
Several things decide what your ship fires. From strongest to weakest:
- A Conditions rule that sets laser ammo, while it's true.
- RSB, whenever it's ready and allowed (below).
- SAB, while its conditions are met (below).
- The NPC's own row in the NPC table: its Ammo column.
- The module's Lasers rules: by NPC size, explained below.
- The default in Lasers: what to fire when nothing else says.
The Lasers setting
Most fighting modules have a Lasers setting in their module settings. A few have their own instead: DSE has Default ammo, Vortex of Greed has Laser ammunition, and Palladium has none.
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Default | Ammo for anything no rule and no NPC row names. Blank keeps whatever is loaded. |
| Overrides | Switch on to use the rules. Off goes straight to the default. |
| Rules (up to 4) | Each rule compares the NPC's maximum hull with a number, above or below (the When choice), and names the ammo. When several match, the one whose number is closest to the NPC's maximum hull wins. |
| RSB | Off by default. Fire RSB whenever it's ready, at NPCs with a bigger maximum hull than the number beside it (1,800,000 by default). |
Save expensive ammo. Set the default to cheap ammo (like LCB-10), then add a rule: bigger than 100,000 hull → MCB-25. Small NPCs get the cheap stuff, big ones get the good stuff.
RSB (radiation shockwave bombs)
In your config under NPC killer → RSB:
- Enabled: use RSB on NPCs whose row has the Use RSB switch (in the Extra column). The Lasers RSB switch above works on its own and does not need this.
- Ammo: which RSB to use.
SAB (shield-draining ammo)
SAB steals the target's shield to refill yours. Under NPC killer → SAB:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enabled | Fire SAB when both conditions below are true. |
| Ammo | Which SAB ammo. |
| My shield under | Only while your own shield is below this. |
| Target shield over | Only while the target still has this much shield to steal. |
To never fire SAB at one NPC, switch on No SAB in its row.
Running out of ammo
The Auto shop behaviour buys ammo, rockets and keys when they run low. See Behaviours.
Two things keep the lasers firing even without it:
- x1 when ammo runs low (on by default): when the round your rules pick is down to its last 100, the ship fires x1 instead.
- Buy x1 when it runs low (on by default, in the app settings under Ammunition): every account tops x1 back up when it falls under 100, as much as its credits cover. x1 to buy sets how many.
Even more control
Want to switch ammo when something happens, like when your shield is low or the target is tagged? Use Conditions.
