Install LeanBot

LeanBot runs on Windows 11 and Windows 10 (version 2004 or newer). You don't need the DarkOrbit game client, a browser plugin or anything else: LeanBot talks to the game by itself.

Download and open it

  1. Go to the download page and sign in with Discord. Press Download LeanBot. You get a file called LeanBot.zip.
  2. Make a folder you will keep, for example Documents\LeanBot. Don't use your Downloads folder or the Desktop, because those get cleaned up.
  3. Unzip LeanBot.zip into that folder. Right-click the zip, choose Extract All…, and pick your new folder.
  4. Open LeanBot.exe from that folder. The LeanBot window appears.
Good to know

That folder is LeanBot. Your accounts, settings and logs are saved in the data folder inside it. Copy the whole folder to back it up or move to a new PC. On a new PC (or another Windows user) you type the account passwords again: they are encrypted for the PC that saved them.

When Windows asks questions

These only happen the first time. They are normal.

"Windows protected your PC"

This blue box appears because LeanBot is new and Windows doesn't know it yet.

  1. Click More info.
  2. Click Run anyway.

"You must install .NET to run this application"

LeanBot needs a free part of Windows from Microsoft called .NET.

  1. Click the link in the message. It opens Microsoft's download page.
  2. Install the runtimes it asks for.
  3. Open LeanBot.exe again.

LeanBot asks for WebView2

Some Windows versions (mostly Windows Server and LTSC) come without the part that draws LeanBot's window. LeanBot asks what to do:

  • Yes opens Microsoft's WebView2 download page. Install it, then open LeanBot again.
  • No runs LeanBot in your web browser instead.
  • Cancel closes LeanBot.

Is it the right file?

Important

Only download LeanBot from our website. A copy someone sends you in a chat or puts on another site can contain anything, including something that steals your DarkOrbit account.

The download page shows a long code after SHA-256. If you know how to check a file's hash, it must match. If you don't, simply always download from the website yourself.

Updating

You don't need to download LeanBot again. It updates itself: see Updates.
